Saudi Arabia’s Alliance for Youth attracts students at its first event

An Alliance for Youth (All 4 Youth) launched in Saudi Arabia last year has kicked off 2019 with Youth Day activities at King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah, attended by around 500 students.

The event featured presentations by Alliance partners Al-Awal Bank, IKEA Saudi Arabia, Mayar (Muhaidib Foods), Nestlé Middle East, Nielsen, Savola, and Tamer Group.

Panel discussions and workshops focused on promoting self-awareness and self-management among the Kingdom’s youth, advising on required competencies to thrive in competitions, bridging the gap between education and the workplace, and highlighting how to get the most out of internships.

All 4 YOUth brings together companies and other entities interested in helping young people enhance their skills and develop their careers. It is committed to impact 50,000 and employ 3,000 Youth by 2020.

Following the success of a similar alliance in Europe, Nestlé Middle East called for an Alliance for Youth in 2016 to bring together entities to help young people in the region where youth unemployment rates reach 27% enhance their skills and develop careers.

The Alliance so far includes the following 14 partners: Bosch, Emaar, UAE’s General Authority of Youth and Sports Welfare, Engie, LinkedIn, L'Oréal, Mohebi, Neilson, Publicis Middle East, Al-Awal Bank, IKEA Saudi Arabia, Mayar (Muhaidib Foods), Savola, and Tamer Group.

It’s committed to impacting 50,000 and employing 3,000 youths across the region by 2020.

All 4 YOUth members are encouraged to work towards:

  • The supply of quality internship and traineeship positions, as well as programs facilitating labor mobility
  • The participation of member companies and the Alliance in readiness for work programs (career consultation, CV clinics, mock interviews, etc.) in close coordination with educational institutions and youth organizations
  • The sharing of knowledge and experiences with education providers, authorities at all levels, business organizations, and youth associations
